John T. Scopes

John T. Scopes was a substitute school teacher put on trial for violating the law stating that teachers in public schools could not teach evolution. Scopes did it anyway in doing as he was told, to follow the book and the book briefed upon evolution. The prosecutors won in this case, but the fine for Scopes was taken away and he did not have to pay. The trial was known as the monkey trial because the problem was whether men came from god as men or as the descendants of apes.
